FANFAIR ALLIANCE: A new guide to fair ticket pricing has been published by FanFair Alliance. Mark says:
The FanFair Alliance Guide offers common sense advice to ticket buyers and the more widely it is adopted, the better it will be for fans and performers. Nobody wants the front ten rows of their event to be full of super rich consumers who may or may not actually be into the music as opposed to just attending the event.

Elvis wouldn't have been the same without Scotty Moore, who has passed away at the age of 84. Scotty's playing on those early songs was the inspiration for thousands of youngsters to start out on guitar......MK
Among many other tributes:
Scotty was the man who first inspired me to play guitar. He was a man of great integrity and, unlike others, never bad-mouthed Elvis after he died.... Steve Phillips
Sad to hear about Scotty Moore ... who started it all pretty much. An absolute privilege to have known and worked with him. A lovely man, a gentleman in every sense and a true hero. ...Ed Bicknell
Very sad to hear about Scotty… a real guitar hero. I remember meeting him, only a few years ago, at an event at the Country Music Hall of Fame. I shook his hand and was literally speechless, the only thing I could manage was to thank him for all the good music. That was enough....Richard Bennett

SIR GEORGE MARTIN: Sir George Henry Martin CBE the English record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, audio engineer and musician died aged 90 on the 8th of March.
"It’s going to be hard to imagine a world of music without George in it. He was a lovely man who gave so much of his talent and of himself. I am proud to have been his friend and grateful to have so many happy memories of him. My thoughts are with Lady Judy and Giles at this time." - MK
BRIAN BENNETT ALBUM: Long-time Shadows drummer Brian Bennett is to release an album of film music by British composer John Barry. Among the guest artists on the album, Mark plays on All The Time In The World, a song from the soundtrack of the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Hal David lyrics which became a huge hit for jazz great Louis Armstrong. You can listen to the song (track 9) on the Brian Bennett Orchestra's Shadowing John Barry on Spotify.
Mark, a lifelong Shadows fan, says that All The Time In The World “was one of Barry's personal favourites. It was such a thrill to be asked to contribute to this version by Brian, one of my all-time favourite great drummers and a fine composer and arranger himself. To find myself playing a wonderful John Barry composition with Brian Bennett on drums was an unforgettable experience,” Mark adds, “For guitar aficionados, I dropped my usual style for this recording and used an old Fender Stratocaster with heavy gauge strings, playing it with a pick instead of my fingers and using the tremolo arm on the instrument to create vibrato rather than my neck hand.”
BRENDAN HEALY: Brendan Healy, the great North-East comedian, actor and musician who passed away on Thursday evening, was a much loved figure who will be missed by countless thousands on Tyneside and beyond.
